Christian Aid week was another great success! Between the 3 day event in the Cathedral hall and the door to door envelope collections over £11,453 was raised, Thanks to the people of Dunblane for their generosity!

The Christian Aid service in St. Mary's Church was well attended. Phyliss Wilson from Christian Aid was an excellent guest speaker.

Three months on after cyclone Nardis hit Bermuda , some survivors have still received little aid. Christian Aid through its local partners has been able to help 200,000 people with food and shelter medicine and clean water. However much more needs to be done, one partner received a request in July for emergency food support for more than 50,000 people in 59 villages which are inland and inaccessible by boat, very little help had reached them until then.

Many of the 2.5 million people affected by the cyclone are dependent on aid because their source of income has been destroyed, others are having to take out loans to rebuild their homes, causing great hardship paying it back, usually working for the lender with no pay.

We no longer read about cyclone Nardis in our newspapers but this does not mean everything is back to normal!
